Graphic Poster

Graphic design workshop

The main focus of this poster was to be visually appealing. The flowing effect is intended to mirror our potential flow of creativity.

Typography poster

HI Classics

The brief for this project was to create a poster using typography; not merely as an arbitary element of design, but as a concept intimately related to that which is being advertised. I chose to make a poster promoting a convention for hearing-impaired lovers of classic movies. The convention served as a forum for those with similar interests and situations to view and discuss the films they love. The use of type dove-tailed with the theme as all movies would be viewed with subtitles. All the features of Marilyn’s face are created using type.

Music poster

Pink: Mafiosa, the Tour.

The brief for this assignment was simply to design a music poster. I chose Pink for my poster as I personally enjoy her music. I decided to create a fictional tour with a Mafia theme to reflect her edgy, rebellious streak which so often manifests in her music. One of my favourite elements of the poster is the use of pistols positioned to create an interesting background effect.

Music poster

Kings of Leon

Again, the brief for this assignment was to design a music poster. For this I made use of the crown in the background to tie in with the monarchical reference in their name.

Civic poster

Town Meets Gown

Town Meets Gown was a project I created for the Oppidan committee at Rhodes University. The aim of the initiative was to reconnect local residents in Grahamstown with the Rhodes University students who rented houses in the area. Orange, the colour of the Oppidans, was the natural choice for the colour scheme.

Comunity poster

Ndithulendiyoyika

This was an outreach project in the local Grahamstown township. It’s goal was to raise awareness about safety in the local community, and how individuals could become a part of the solution and make a change.

Shark

The balls in your court.

This project was created for the Student Representative Council at Rhodes University. The brief was to promote safe sex during a large annual sporting weekend. The use of ambiguous catchphrases and changing the ball surfaces to those of the government-issued condoms aimed to situate the critical message within the context of the sporting weekend.
